Little Known Cult Classics for Movie Lovers
There was a time you knew what cult classics where because every town had its midnight movie. Films represented at these showcases became cult classics because while not available in the mainstream they still had a venue. These days with technology streaming any movie you can think of, the cult classic can get lost in the fray. The following films are cult classics because of their small but dedicated audience. They are good films, lost in genre or left off of mainstream advertising budgets. Still they are quality movies with a following;
Plan 9 From Outer Space – 1959
While many people have heard of this its better than people think. Ed Wood offers Bella Lugosi in this classic genre mix up.
Pink Flamingos – 1972
John Waters, director and cult master creates characters you just know are real. (Not family appropriate, watch when the kids are away).
White Heat – 1949
James Cagney is well know, but not for one of his very best films. This intense dramatic gangster film sets the precedent for all others.
Once Upon the time in the West – 1968
Magnificent Henry Fonda, killer mad man. You won’t believe it until you see it.
