September 6th, 2011 by admin

First date movies are tricky. You don’t want anything too heavy, too gory or too sappy. A light comedy is a good choice but it can’t be overly romantic or have too much adult content. The following five films are perfect first date options.

Transporter (2002) – Filled with crazy action and constant movement there is nothing in this film to make the first date couple squirm. Light, funny, action packed this film is a good choice to show your date you can go with the flow, have a good sense of humor and the one love scene isn’t too graphic.

Grease (1978) – Fun, silly, and who doesn’t like John Travolta. This classic film carries its romance lightly, has no graphic love scenes, and can be viewed by any audience. While not every one loves it, its rare to find anyone that dislikes it. Keeping the evening on a humorous light note, this film will still allow for conversation.

Breathless (1960) – Show off your sensitive sophisticated side with this classic French New Wave film. Romantic and dangerous Jean Luc Belmondo and Jean Seberg are an awkwardly perfect couple. Action, romance, great clothes and set in Paris this film is filled with wit and charm.

King Kong (1933) – A perfect film. Adventurous and interesting your date will be impressed with this classic. You can’t go wrong, at only 100 minutes this film doesn’t take over your whole evening but gleans an insight into a classic film discussion.

Bringing Up Baby (1938) – A romantic comedy of the first order. Romance and comedy are tossed along for the ride with sophisticated and slapstick moments. Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn are at peak genius in this rompcom. From the clothes to the banter, the getting to know you moments are sweet.
